Participation in the project
IES Virgen del Carmen in Jaén participates in the Andalucía Game Jam project as part of a network of Vocational Training schools focused on innovation and knowledge transfer in the field of video game development. The programme of activities revolves around challenge- and project-based active methodologies, in which students work on creating playable prototypes linked to real-world issues such as sustainability, accessibility or cultural heritage. Throughout the project, students on the specialisation course receive specific training from industry companies in game engines, 3D production and digital tools. At the same time, teamwork, agile project management and technical problem-solving are fostered in an environment as close as possible to a professional setting. One of the most enriching aspects is the inter-school collaboration, which enables students to share progress, receive feedback and take part in mentoring sessions. All of this culminates in the Game Jam & Showcase at the Edificio El Banco in Jaén, where students present their video games in a real, open environment attended by companies and sector stakeholders, generating opportunities for learning, visibility and contact with the professional world.
